In the 1950s, two childhood friends sell frozen treats on the boardwalks of Coney Island, with the dream of one day opening their own ice cream parlor. In 1975, dreams become reality, as they pack up and head west to open their first store in the heart of San Francisco. On the day they sign the lease to their first store, a Double Rainbow lights up the San Francisco sky. The company name is born. With its neon signs and super-premium ice cream, this little scoop shop quickly becomes a neighborhood staple. Double Rainbow continues to be family owned and operated to this day, with both retail and wholesale distribution across the country.
