Amy's began in 1987 out of a need for ready-made meals that were organic, vegetarian, and delicious. The first product was a humble pot pie, made by hand out of Amy's parents' home kitchen. Amy's has since grown into a household name, producing over 700,000 meals a day in multiple kitchens across the country. Amy's believes cooking was meant to be done by hand, so even today the burritos and enchiladas are hand-rolled, the pizza crusts and tortillas are hand-stretched, the pizza toppings are placed by hand, and the cheese is sprinkled by hand. Sauces are made from scratch, stirring in spices and vegetables, then simmering slowly for hours until the flavor is perfect.
